Protect Yourself - Read This First

When you visit websites, your navigation software (browser), i.e., Netscape or Microsoft Explorer, keeps a record of where you have been (your history). Depending on how your software was set up and which version of the software you are using, this history record may or may not be deleted. To ensure that no one can trace your steps, you need to take certain steps to delete the record. There are four sets of instructions, one for each of the following: Netscape Communicator 4.7, Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0, Netscape 7.0 (Mac version), and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 (Mac version). Even if you are not using one of these specific versions, you may find it helpful to read through the instructions so that you have an idea of the kind of options to look for in your browser.

Determine what software you are using and then choose the corresponding set of instructions (below). Generally speaking, if you are using Netscape, you will see an icon with a capital "N" on the right side of the screen. If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, you will see an icon with a small "e" on the right side of the screen.

We suggest that you quickly read over the set of instructions that is applicable to you before proceeding to use the VIOLET site. By doing so, you will be in a better position to delete your history when you are ready to sign off.
